In January-July 2006 the ports of the Southern region handled 12.872 th.tons of metals and ore (+1.4% uyear-on-year). The ports increased the handling volumes of ferrous metals by +13.1% and non-ferrous metals - by 11.2%. The scrap was handled mainly by Rostov port (-24.8% year-on-year). In July the metal and ore handling made 1,860,4 th.tons or a 3% plus month-on-month.
