In January-July 2006 the ports of the Azov ad Black Sea reions handled 81910.1 th.tons of oil and oil products (+1.4% year-on-year). In July oil and oil products handling made 1.1976.6 th.tons (+3.8% month-on-month). The ports increased the handling volumes of oil by 2%.

Container shipping lines participating in the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) will increase their Panama Canal surcharges, from US$115 to $165 per container from May 1 in a bid to recoup potential losses after the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) introduces a sharp hike in transit fees to help pay for future canal expansion works. The ACP announced in February that it will change the way it calculates container vessel transit fees from a method based on vessel weight plus a percentage of containers on deck, to one based on a vessel's full container capacity.
