In January-July 2006 the ports of the Southern region handled 12.872 th.tons of metals and ore (+1.4% uyear-on-year).
The ports increased the handling volumes of ferrous metals by +13.1% and non-ferrous metals - by 11.2%.
The scrap was handled mainly by Rostov port (-24.8% year-on-year).
In July the metal and ore handling made 1,860,4 th.tons or a 3% plus month-on-month.

According to the transport bulletin SeaNews Weekly No 87, in Q1 2005 the aggregate throughput of the port of Rostov reduced by 5.8% and made 680.2 th.tons.
In March the port handled 264.4 th.tons of cargo (+41.5% compared to February 2005).
In January-March 2005 309.4 th.tons of metal scrap was handled for export (-15.6% year-on-year).
