Delta Shipping Trade Announcement – General Rate Increase from Europe to Russia
The short-sea industry was hit very hard by significant rate and volume decreases last year.
We presently face a situation where volumes have strongly recovered but the freights have continued to decline. The trading conditions for the carriers operating in this market are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is not sustainable in the long term, especially in view of the increasing operating costs being dictated in particular by the recovery of the time charter market.
In order to continue offering our clients the required sailing frequency and usual high level of service reliability during these challenging times, it will be necessary to implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) of EUR 75/TEU on all trade lanes from Europe to Russia effective from 1st of October 2010.
We would like to thank our clients for their understanding and continued support.
