P&O Nedlloyd is to upgrade its existing feeder services from Panama to Manaus (Brazil) to a weekly frequency from July 2001 onwards. Connecting in Panama to weekly mainline arrivals from Asia, the new Amazon feeder service will consist of four vessels, offering solutions tailored to meet customer demand in Asia, as well as upgrading the connection from the USA to the Amazon Region. In addition, the service will further enhance P&O Nedlloyd's coverage of the West Coast South America.

NOTICE TO TRADE INDIA PAKISTAN BANGLADESH CEYLON CONFERENCES CHENNAI FEEDER SURCHARGE IPBCC Member Lines wish to advise their customers that as a result of severe Congestion at the port of Chennai, the Chennai Feeder Operators (CFO) serving the Chennai trade, have announced the immediate introduction of a USD 75.00 per TEU Congestion Surcharge on all laden container movements between Chennai/Colombo, Chennai/Malaysia and Chennai/Singapore. Member Lines have no alternative other than to pass this charge directly onto their customers and therefore all Eastbound and Westbound freight rates will be subject to a surcharge of USD 75.00 per TEU effective as follows: Eastbound & Westbound Shipments with effect from 15th May 2001 It has been necessary to introduce this surcharge at short notice as a result of the action taken by the Chennai feeder operators and is fully in accordance with Member Lines prior Notice to the Trade issued in February 2001. Member Lines will continue to closely monitor the situation.
