The member Lines of the Europe /East Africa , North Europe/Djibouti Europe/Sudan Container Lines Agreement (ESCLA) have to advise that, in view of recent developments in the USA, they have been advised by their underwriters that additional War Risk insurance premiums will soon be imposed for vessels calling at or transiting certain specified ports and areas. NOTICE TO TRADE INDIA PAKISTAN BANGLADESH CEYLON CONFERENCES CHENNAI CONGESTION SURCHARGE IPBCC Member Lines wish to advise their customers that as a result of severe ongestion at the port of Chennai, the Chennai Feeder Operators (CFO) serving the Chennai trade, have announced the introduction of a USD 100.00 per TEU Congestion Surcharge on all laden container movements between Chennai/Colombo, Chennai/Malaysia and Chennai/Singapore. Member Lines have no alternative other than to pass this charge directly onto their customers and therefore all Eastbound and Westbound freight rates will be subject to a surcharge of USD 100.00 per TEU effective as follows: Eastbound Shipments with effect from 1st February 2001 Westbound Shipments with effect from 10th February 2001 Member Lines will continue to closely monitor the situation.
