Horses and Cows at Ust-Luga
January 16 Ust-Luga received the ocean-going cattle carrier “Ocean Outback”, Ust-Luga Company told SeaNews. The ship delivered 5,500 Aberdeen Angus cows and 57 Quarter Horse horses for Miratorg.
According to the consignee, the cattle loaded in the USA is destined for Bryansk region, where two new farms are under construction. The cattle will be delivered there by road in specialized vehicles.
In Ust-Luga, the cattle carries was handled at the Yug-2 terminal during only 32 hours. Simultaneously, other cargo operations were underway, as a ro-ro vessel was handled and heavylift cargo was loaded onto road and rail.
The Singapore-flagged “Ocean Outback” belongs to Australian Wellard and is operated by its Singapore based subsidiary Wellard Ships. The 7-deck vessel is capable of accommodating 6,000 cattle or 25,000 sheep.
