27 July United International Network of Customs Warehouses Co (UINCW) started the realization of the Smart Logistic Group project, which provides for the construction of logistic centers in Russia and CIS countries. According to UINCWs press-service, 6 logistics "A" class complexes are planned to be launched in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Volgograd and Kazan by the end of 2008.

On July 9, 2006 Pendik shipyard (Tuzla, Turkey) delivered the product tanker "Kazan" of the 4320 tons dwt. The tanker is aimed for the transportation of crude oil and oil products. M/v "Kazan" of ST19 project is 115 meters long, 16.2 meters wide.

Following the growth in export/import and transit container traffic and the local production output, Gorky Railway has faced the necessity to improve the container handling capacities in the Gorky and Kazan divisions of the railway. The Kostarikha station (Gorky division) has started handling 20' and 40' containers with a Kalmar loader, and the Lagernaya station (Kazan division) has put into operation a new MKK-42K electric frame crane. Gorky Railway provides transport links between Central Russia, the Urals, Siberia and the Far East.
