The Russian company LUKoil JSC and Kazakhstan company KazMunaiGas have established a joint venture Caspian Oil and Gas Co.
The president of LUKoil Vagit Alekperov and vice-president of KazMunaiGas Timur Kulibaev signed the basic documents on March 14.
The joint venture was established to develop the Khvalynskoye field in the Caspian Sea.

Stage two of the Vysotsk oil terminal has been put into operation, declared Vagit Alekperov, president of LUKoil JSC during the meeting with the governor of Leningrad oblast Valery Serdukov.
According to V.Alekperov, in April 2005 the first tanker of 60 th.tons dwt is to be loaded at the terminal.
At present the negotiations are held concerning the construction of stage 3 of the terminal.

On February 15, 2005 LUKoil JSC and ConocoPhillips are discussing the construction of a liquefaction plant on the Yamal peninsula, informed Vagit Alekperov, President of LUKoil JSC, on the subject of Russian-American cooperation in the energy sector at the Cambridge Energy Research Associates Conference in Houston.
According to V.Alekperov, within 10 years oil production in Russia might grow from 9 to 13 mn barrels a day and gas production may grow from 22 to 27 trn cubic feet a year.

On December 29 the president of LUKoil JSC Vagit Alekperov and the president of Russian Railways JSC Gennady Fadeev signed two documents concerning the transportation of oil to China and the rail traffic organization to LUKoil's terminal in Vysotsk.
According to the agreement, LUKoil is to deliver 3 mn tons of oil to China in 2005.
