Evergreen Marine Corp (Taiwan) Ltd, which currently operates 2 container terminals in the Port of Kaohsiung, has extended its lease on the newer facility at Container Terminal N5 for a further 11 years and 1 month, reports the press-service of the company.
The lease extension contract, which covers the period from December 1, 2007 to December 31, 2018, was signed by EMC's President Jack Yen and by Ming-Hui Shieh, Director-General of the Kaohsiung Harbour Bureau at a ceremony held in Kaohsiung.
This container terminal occupies over 400,000 sq.m of land and provides 3 berths (N79, N80 and N81) with a total quay length of 815m.

The Russian company Atlant-Souz and the American Evergreen International Airlines have signed the agreement on intention to establishe a join venture for cargo transportation, reports Kommersant quoting the press-release of the Russian company.
It is said that the joint venture will have been established by the end of the current year.

"Ever Safety", the ninth of ten 7024TEU S-series vessels being built for Evergreen in Japan, was launched on 5 June at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Kobe shipyard.
Due for delivery in October 2007, Ever Safety is scheduled to join Evergreen Line's transpacific service.

Evergreen and Cosco Container Lines (Coscon) are splitting their joint ESA service running from Asia to South Africa and South America into two, reports TradeWinds.
Replacing it will be 2 new services: a new ESA service linking Asia and South America and FAX, a new Far East - South Africa service.
The new ESA service is set to provide faster transit times between major ports in Asia and those in South America.

Due for delivery in June 2007, “Ever Summit” is scheduled to enter service on the Transpacific Southwest (TPS) service linking Southern China, Hong Kong and Taiwan with the West Coast of North America.
The Evergreen Group is approaching the end of a shipbuilding programme comprising 18 large post-Panamax containerships.
