16 July 2007 a meeting between the first vice-President of RZD Boris Lapidus, governor of the Permsky region Oleg Chirkunov, Minister of Industry and Energy of the republic of Komi Nikoail Gerasimov, deputy governor of the Archangelsk region Vladimir Voykov and director-general of the "Belkomur" project operator has been held in Moscow. During the meeting the participants has agreed that RZD will sign an agreement with Permsky region, the republic of Komi and Archangelsk province on it's participation in the construction of "Belkomur".

The Russian Troika JSC, the joint enterprise of the Russian Railways and Far Eastern Shipping Co, was formed to renew the rolling stock and container park of the company as well as to acquire new container vessels, informed Russian Railways Vice President Boris Lapidus at the meeting on September 21. The park is to be renewed continuously.

The rail transport reform, unlike reforms of other natural monopolies, is carried out along with the stable development of the branch, as the Chief of the Railways Ministry's Economy Department Boris Lapidus told the press. According to B.Lapidus, it can be observed that the volumes of cargo carriage have been growing already for 4 years, thus, according to the information of the Economy Department, the growth made up 8% in the first quarter of this year.
