Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), Japan's Tokyo Senpaku Kaisha (TSK) and Common Feeder Bengal Tiger Line (BTL) have teamed up to provide the first direct service from Korea to India's East coast port of Chennai, reports the press-service of HMM. Commencing on 5th August in Ulsan, the consortium will run a fixed day weekly service with 4 x 1600 teu vessels. The exact rotation: Ulsan - Busan - Shanghai - Chiwan - Singapore - Port Kelang - Chennai - Port Kelang - Ulsan.

The CKYH Alliance (COSCON, K-Line, Yang Ming, and Hanjin Shipping) will upgrade AWE-1, AWE-4, and AWE-5 among 5 CKYH AWE loops by revising its routes to provide regionally differentiated service, such as North Loop, Central Loop and South Loop starting from May 2007, reports the press-service of COSCO Group. CKYH will join hands to run a total of 3 South, Central, North Express Services by deploying 24 Panamax ships of 4000 TEU class. The port calling of the five AWE Loops is as following: New AWE South Loop: Chiwan, Yantian, Hong Kong, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Chiwan. New AWE Central Loop: Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Savannah, Norfolk, Charleston, Xiamen. New AWE North Loop: Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, New York, Wilmington, Savannah, Busan, Qingdao. AWE2 Loop: Qingdao, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Charleston, New York, Boston, Qingdao. AWE3 Loop: Hong Kong, Yantian, Kaohsiung, Pusan, Savannah, Wilmington, New York, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong. Through this restructuring, CKYH Alliance will be able to provide customers with direct calls to Xiamen and express service that links South and North China to the East Coast of U.S.

On February 12 a workgroup created earlier by TransContainer and Izh-Auto started negotiating on the contract conditions and technologies for delivering KIA Spectra, KIA Rio JB and KIA Sorento parts to Izh-Auto's factory. The volume of transportation in 2007 is expected to increase by 2.4 times to 60,000 TEUs. The route proposed is from Pusan by sea to Vostochny and then by rail to the Vozhoy station.
